Government Shutdown Update Polymarket Odds

 

Majority of the people on Polymarket expect the government shutdown ship-show to continue beyond 16th of November. It began on the first of October 2025, already clocking 33 days and running. This one is bound to surpass the 2018 shutdown, which lasted 35 days under who else, but, the Donald! Surprisingly, this bargaining tactic of the so called government shutdown, was started by the pervert, Billy Clinton, who invented this negotiating tactic strongly, during his 21 day tantrum in December 1995. The correct name for this phenomenon however, should be partial shutdown, because, less than half of the federal employees are told to stop working. The remaining simply continue working, with their salary delayed till the end of the shutdown. The most pathetic thing about this malarkey has to be the thirty two thousand employees of the Department of Health and Human Services, who have been sent home without pay. But thirty four thousand of those blood sucking leeches, at the IRS are still working. So then let us at least take up the responsibility to keep those IRS vampires busy. At this moment, the odds on government shutdown not ending before 7th of November are 84 percent. Surprisingly, the odds are almost identical for the 11th of November and the 15th of November. So the 7th November bet seems like a safe option. Personally, before getting into big bucks, I am planning to put 84 dollars on this bet. If it goes my way, I will earn 16 dollars in 5 days, that's a good 19 percent return on investment in 5 days. That is incredible. Especially if you consider the magic of compounding. 19 percent in 5 days is equal to one hundred and eighty three percent in a month. Another way to look at it is simply that those eighty four dollars will become fourteen million after one year, if these tiny looking returns of 19 percent in 5 days, keeps on happening, continuously, for just 1 year.
